Porn and garden plans

"Yeah, baby!"

*turns page*

"That's what I'm talking about!!"

*turns page*

"Come to mama!!"

*turns page*

"Gross!," says Big Sis, "WHAT is mom looking at??"

Little Sis rolls her eyes and replies, "The seed catalogs are here."

Yep, gardener's porn.  I can't help myself.  All of those pics, so succulent, so tempting....*drools*

*hangs head*  I think I need help. *sobs*

lol...I crack myself up.  Anyway, yes, the garden porn has arrived, and I'm glued to the new seed catalogs like some sicko at a porn shop.

We've done something different in the garden each year, keeping the plants and methods that worked and discarding those that didn't.  This year is no exception.

Our 2012 garden; will 2012 be a year of doom, or is that just more Y(awn)2K hype?  Doesn't matter, we'll be making these changes regardless.  The big plan is to grow more dry storage food and less that need processing and freezing.  After all, we live in an area where ice storms and power outages are common, so it only makes sense.

We'll be planting lots of beans for drying, flour and parching corn, and literally tons of squash.  We'll still plant the fresh goodies: green beans, melons, lettuce, tomatoes (for fresh eating and canning), peppers, and all the other tasty stuff.

I'm planning to do the Farmer's Market again this year.  I skipped last year; it was a bad year for plants and I really didn't have time.  I missed it, though.  It's strangely addictive, even if I'm not selling a lot of stuff.  I love talking to all the other garden fanatics and foodies.  Another excuse to order more seeds!! WOOT!  I'll be selling plants, even if I don't do produce.  And for that I sure could use a greenhouse...

My Christmas present from Eöl, and some recycled materials, and voila!  The frame for the new greenhouse went up today...pics and info on that as soon as it's done.  High winds predicted for tomorrow may slow that down a bit, but at least we got the frame set before the ground froze.

I'm headed back to my porn and huge list of seeds to buy.  Wishing everyone a Happy New Year!!!

Sadly, I didn't order from seed companies catalogs (went to the stores) so I'm not on but one mailing list, so not much garden porn for me :(

Guess I'll just have to keep looking online at the websites. And remember to keep a few tissues so I don't gunk up the keyboard (with drool).

Have a Happy New Year!

My garden porn got the best of me last night while I was home alone. I made a huge mess.

A huge mess of my checking account. Spent around $400 on mostly fruit trees and berries, but I did toss in some veggie seeds.

LOL Oh my... That is pretty much my worst vice too. And I have no immediate plans to try and overcome it. Congrats on your greenhouse, how exciting! Looking forward to seeing pics! As I sit here catching up on blogs, a luscious pile of garden catalogs tempts me. LOL Shameful.

I am really excited to start planning my garden for this year. It'll be my first so I'm hoping for some success! I also got a pressure canner so hoping to play around with that too. Should be a fun year for food for us :)

I love going to the farmers markets and chatting with the farmers. Good to know it's enjoyable from the other side too ;)
