Bohemian Rhapsody

You know how we all used to hate sitting through slide shows of our relative's cross country vacations?  Well, this is your warning to head for the hills, change the channel, or surf away, because I'm about to bore you with repeated posts rife with travel pics, stories of misadventures and allergy attacks, and the occasional T-Rex sighting.

So far this year we've been to Pennsylvania more than once, Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, and a few areas of Ohio that are new to us.

Here are a few pics from a recent back road adventure.

View of the road from the scenic overlook .

Eol at the scenic overlook in Kentucky.

This is interesting.  It's an Elk Crossing sign! We don't have elk in Ohio; the signs here warn of deer crossing.

The view along the Country Music Highway.

Nuclear power plant or coal processing?  I'm not sure.

Kentucky is the heart of coal country.  Eol was fascinated by the giant mounds of coal.
For me, it was a common sight in my childhood, growing up a coal miner's granddaughter.

Bridge or spiderweb??

WHAT is the story behind this creek name??

Abe Lincoln...in Kentucky.
The same Country Music Highway, but in Virginia.

Pumpkin water tower in Circleville, Ohio, home of the Pumpkin Festival.
This trip was a LOT of fun!  Even though I was completely exhausted from our trip to the Cleveland area and late night return the night before.  Or was it wee hours of the same morning that we embarked on this adventure? *shrug*  It was less than four hours of sleep...yay...not. But, sleep or no sleep, we were on our way to visit family in TN.  Rather than take our usual route, speeding along the interstate and getting there as fast as we can, we took another, slower (though shorter?) route.  At least it was a change of scenery!

Then, during the trip, I suffered a severe allergy attack and my eyes were gummed up like I'd dropped glue into them.  Gross, right?  It's hard to look your best with boogery eyes, lemme tell ya!  Adult onset allergies...no fun at all.

But misadventures make trips more memorable, that's for sure.

Happy to look at any of your travel pics. Some of us who live far far away will probably never see the US and so we can live vicariously through your adventures. Feel free to take as many trip and photos as you want and post them.

Thanks, Lynda!! I feel the same about other countries. Little Sis desperately wants to visit England, so that may be next year's adventure.
